Work, life and things in between – Day 113 – On the West Coast!
Our vacation took us from one end of the country to the other . We started with the West Coast of Vancouver Island; Tofino.
Tofino is a forgotten paradise, nestled on the west coast of Vancouver Island between strips of rugged terrain also knows as the Pacific Rim. On a good day if you could see far, you would see Japan.
It is rugged, primal, secretive and discreet. The tides roll in and change the scenery of every hour of every day while the sunset wraps you in beauty and awe as you witness the end of another day. You can’t wait for tomorrow to come and start all over again.
There and for the rest of the vacation, I intended to be truly off. No worries, no concerns, no budget review, no hamster spinning in the middle of the night. Rest, peace and the belief that everything will be fine. That’s all I wanted.
From Tofino, we traveled east on the Island to the Sunshine Coast: the other side of the island.
This is a favorite spot of ours. This place is small community, quiet roads, fresh oysters and cold beer all day long if you want. It is where you think that retirement would be a swell thing to do and that yes, you are ready to sit down and read all these books you have been piling up over the years, starting with War and Peace.
Coming to a place where I agree to put my feet up, unpack my goods and think that this could be “it” is a rare event for me, but this place does this, with this man.
But I knew that come November the sunshine will turn into rain and these fresh oysters will be out of season and besides, I have read War and Peace already, so at that stage, I was thinking it was best to keep moving.
And so we did. To Newfoundland. To day 114.
