Work, life and things in between – Day 34 – Mom, my sister and I!
I am still in Montreal. My sister, also from BC, flew in last night. I pick her up this morning and we are going to surprise my Mom and Dad by showing up in our PJs for breakfast!
Now picture that. You already know I am in my fifties and my sister is older than me. She and I have always lived away from home from the time we turned twenty. The highlights of our trips back home were to find ourselves in the morning, in our PJs, around the breakfast table with Mom. We would talk and laugh for hours. Now that my Mom and Dad have moved out of their house and live in a retirement home, we can no longer stay with them (thus my condo).
So, this morning, we walk into the building dressed in gym gear. We walk past the reception, take the elevator one floor short of their apartment. Take the stairwell up the last flight so we can change into our PJs away from the hallway crowd. So the scene is as follows: 2 grown up women with pants down and sweaters over their heads, changing into slippers and laughing so hard they need to lean against the wall not to fall.
We sneak out of the stairwell and run to our parents’ door. When Mom opens the front door we were both standing there in our PJs, claiming our breakfast!
We felt like kids again, minus the sibling rivalry!
We had such a great morning. It was so much fun to have fun! Fun is one of the first things that typically gets kicked out of your life when you move into the “busy world”.
Very refreshing.
It is now noon! Before I turn into a pumpkin (yes I know the real story says midnight….but what the heck, this is my story, I do what I want!) I kiss everyone goodbye. I must be on my way. Tem is waiting for me; we are leaving for La Malbaie again. He has a business function there for the next two days and then we will stretch the stay into a long week-end. To day 35.
