Work, life and things in between – Day 17: The focus is off!

Work, life and things in between – Day 17: The focus is off!

Things are a little confused for me right now. Even though I said, I would not do this, I am back at updating my resume for this exciting position. I still feel I need to justify this!

On the sea wall yesterday I met a group of people who seemed lost and were asking for directions.  We started talking and spent quite a bit of time chatting about this and that.  As I was getting ready to leave them and continue with my walk I asked them where they were from.

Wouldn’t you know?  They are from the very city where that job is located.

Now you may think nothing of it, but for me it was a reminder that I had set out to do this and I should follow through.  When you decide to do something, you stick with it.

So I went on line, looked for the ad and found it.  I am determined to do this.  It feels too good to be doing something I am familiar with. This feels like meat and potato on a Sunday.  I hit “send” and turn off the computer.  Checked off my list.

Also, in the morning paper an interesting article catches my attention.

There is this woman who when she turned fifty, took her inheritance money and embarked on a tour of 50 countries.  When she returned she wrote a book on her journey and self published it and today the Globe & Mail has an article on her.  Wow! It is not the journey so much or the article in the Globe that caught my attention as much as the self publishing part.   I did not know you could do that! (There are a lot of things I don’t know).

What also gets me thinking is the thought of packing everything up and hitting the road.  I did that once when I was nineteen and came back a year later with the feeling of an unfinished job.

I came back because my life was calling me home.

Now, thirty-five years later, I could do it again. Maybe it is time to pick up where I left off.  I have the time, the money and I also have the same freedom from responsibilities I had at nineteen. Hmm…. Here is something else to feed my frantic brain. To day 18.Things are a little confused for me right now.
