Work, life and things in between – Day 44 – Bells & seagulls!

I am flying to Montreal today.   Again.   I suggest you get used to this because it is going to happen a lot!  It is such a different city than Vancouver though but both are beautiful in their own way.

Seagulls are to Vancouver what church bells are to Montreal. When I sit on the balcony on a Sunday morning, sipping coffee and reading my newspaper and the church bells start carillonning, I am 5 years old all over again. I am wearing my best Sunday shoes, my hair is pulled back and I am walking to church following Mom and Dad most likely trying to beat my sister to the front door! and when I am in Vancouver and wake up to the sound of seagulls, I am an adult who feels good about the life she has chosen!

Although I am trying to avoid making big decisions, one I did make was to maintain my frequent flyer status.  If my plans work out and I get to travel from coast to coast next year I will greatly appreciate that status.  So, more often than not, I am in Montreal on week-ends.

Nice thing about it is that my hamster gets bored there and quite significantly slows down. Nobody to pay attention to it I guess.  Must be the wining and dining and long walks along the St Lawrence river. Hamsters don’t know how to deal with the good life!  No deadlines, no rush, not even anything to plan….only “la Dolce vita”.

No deadlines reminds me of the last time I was at the Executive forum I normally attend. Everyone was struggling with their travel up and down the corporate ladder and my biggest issue was to blog or not to blog.  That felt like a pretty good life as well, although there was a bit of a sting to it. I felt pretty small among them.

It takes courage to feel small among tall people and still stand up!

Then it takes even more courage to look into what it is that makes you small and makes them tall in your eyes!…this is getting sticky.  Sticky, but necessary and quite frankly down right healthy…because if you hold that thought long enough, you will get to the end of it and you know what is at the end?  YOU.  Only you.  This is your thought.  No one else thinks you are smaller than them….

So, if the thought of smallness is yours alone, then change it!  Just think you’re big! They’ll never know the difference! To day 45.
